So I Started A Bullet Journal...

Up until a couple of weeks ago, I'd never even heard of a bullet journal. I saw a couple of posts on my Twitter timeline about them and thought "wtf is this...tell me more". So I hopped on over to the Bullet Journal website and immediately got drawn in by the possibilities. Ryder Carroll (the brains behind the idea) describes it as "the analogue system for the digital age". And I'd agree, there's something very old school about having a physical journal and diary with written pages and space to just be creative.

I only started my journal at the beginning of February, so it's still pretty empty and I'm still trying to settle on a style a like for my daily logs, along with a pen I like (first world problems). I really want a nice gel/felt tip style pen to do some nice lettering with (I'm totally inspired by Boho Berry's AMAZING bullet journal) but all the ones I've tried so far leak through the pages, however, biro makes the pages all crinkly and so the pen hunt continues. In terms of my actual journal, I use the Leuchtturm1917 dotted notebook in Emerald with a contrasting grey pen holder (I picked mine up from eBay). This seems to be a firm favourite with bullet journalers and so far I really like it.

I've set it up pretty much how Ryder Carroll advises, with my key at the start (although I use boxes for tasks instead of bullets and bullets to log items in my collections). I then followed this with a year overview calendar, my 6 month future view (not pictured because I forgot that May exists and so fucked it up). I then have my monthly and weekly spreads with random collections thrown in here are there. I have a habit tracker in which I track various healthy habits I'm trying to work into my life and each day I also log something I'm grateful for.

I like that that the Bullet Journal system allows me to be flexible and creative. I want to use it as a tool to explore my creativity and document positive things that happen in my life, along with encouraging me to use my time more productively and ensuring that things get done. And so far, it does seem to be helping (apart from I still haven' t sorted my washing out, which I've been logging and migrating for at least a week!). I'm trying to flick through my journal each morning and evening and add things in/check things off to ensure that I at least consider all the tasks on there. I'm also working my blog stuff in there too and making sure I'm planning in time to work on posts, schedule tweets and Facebook posts and just generally showing my blog some love.
